“We been savin’ up for two years to see Florida,” Cindy said, in a thick clothes-pin-on-her-nose Midwest accent. Cindy and her friend Mary Ann were young waitresses on their first big vacation. From Cincinnati, and in their early twenties, they decided to pick up a hitchhiker, adding to their adventure. Although not sisters, they looked nearly identical with long straight brown hair, both of average height and trim figures, and wearing floral print short-sleeved shirts, white shorts that showed off smooth thighs and flip flops—a damn sight prettier than anyone else I’d ridden with.
